Since 2009, AAL Forum has yearly gathered the most significant influencers within active ageing living to discuss and seek to improve the future within health and care technology. In 2019 the conference will be held in Aarhus, the European Capital of Culture 2017, on September 23-25th.
The advance interest in AAL Forum has been higher this year than usual. The organisers have received no less than 71 applications from organisations from all over the world who wish to host and organise a workshop at the conference. The high interest for contributing with new knowledge about the most innovative and best solutions within the implementation of health and care technology augurs well for this year’s conference and the theme ‘Smarter practical implementation of digital technology to enhance active and healthy living’.
- Experiencing the tremendous geographical dispersion of applicants is fantastic. It suggests that we have found the right theme about implementation and that there is an international interest in participating in the conference in Aarhus. It is going to be interesting to listen to and discuss with the many stakeholders at the workshops and at the same time share our own experiences with the rest of the world, says Ivan Kjær Lauridsen, CEO at Centre for Assisted Living Technology in Aarhus Municipality.
Conference, exhibition and workshops
The AAL Forum is a gathering point for small and medium-sized companies, industries, universities, experts, decision-makers, public buyers, front personnel, students and elderly people. The organisers expect around 1000 participants at the conference who also presents an exhibition with new health and care technology.
As part of the programme, the conference consists of 24 workshops. The deadline for applications has passed, and more than 71 applicants from Angola, Columbia, China, USA and European countries have offered workshops with a focus on either better and smarter implementation or elder-friendly societies, data handling, entrepreneurship and seniors at the workplace.
On April 11-12th the international programme committee meets in Coimbra, Portugal, to choose the 24 workshops which will be a part of the official programme at AAL Forum 2019.
The AAL Forum 2019 is organised in collaboration with the European AAL Programme - Active Assisted Living Programme (AAL) and Centre for Assisted Living Technology in Aarhus Municipality. The EU-programme aims to foster the emergence of innovative ICT-based products, services and systems for ageing well at home, in the community, and at work. Other collaborators include Central Denmark Region, CareWare and Welfare Tech.
The AAL Forum is taking place at Aarhus Congress Centre on September 23-25th 2019.
